The Brioche Restaurant; The Salamander restaurant; Delicatessen café Gurmé

Daniel Garratt, formerly of the Savoy Group in London, has bought The Brioche Restaurant in Totnes, South Devon, which he plans to open in the evenings as well as the customary lunchtimes. Garratt's wife Traci is from nearby Harbertonford. The Brioche is already licensed and Garratt wants to introduce tapas in the evenings. Bettesworths property agents handled the sale.

The Salamander restaurant in Mevagissey, Cornwall, has been sold through Christie & Co. The 32-cover restaurant has exposed timber flooring, oak tables and a log burning stove and has been bought by Mark Crook, a former chef who has moved to the area with his family from Brompton on Swale in North Yorkshire. The restaurant currently only trades in the evening but has potential for a lunchtime trade. The Salamander was sold for an undisclosed figure from a £355,000 freehold asking price.

Delicatessen café Gurmé has signed on a site at Paddington Central which it will open in June. The West London caterer's first standalone site is 1,300 sq.ft and will sell hot and cold food as well as deli products. Gurmé joins Zizzi, Yakitoria and Pearl Liang on the mixed use scheme.
