Circus restaurant in Soho, which was owned by London-based Image Restaurants, has been sold to a Russian businessman.

Founder Chris Bodker said, "We had half a dozen uninitiated offers for Circus and we got an offer we would have been foolish to have said no to". He said the restaurant will not be relocating to a different site but said the company, which he founded in 1995, is looking at a few locations for new sites, saying "Chelsea would be an obvious one".

Shelley Sandzer handled the sale.

Trevor Shelley said, "there was a flood and it was closed for months, it's all been beautifully fitted out since so it made sense to sell it off rather than to start it off again."

The restaurant will be the unnamed businessman's first in the UK. Image Restaurants also owns Kensington Place, The Fish Shop and Lanceston Place in Kensington and The Avenue in St James's.
