THE Westerly in Reigate has won the RÈmy Martin/ Harden’s UK Restaurant Guide ‘Restaurant Excellence Award 2008’.
The award is made “to the restaurant which has shown itself to be the most outstanding rising star of the UK restaurant scene.”
Owners Jon and Cynthia Coomb said: “This award is a huge and unexpected honour as it is based on customer feedback that makes it all the more important to us.
"Mostly though, it confirms our belief in all things that, in essence, make a good restaurant: this has nothing to do with high concepts, smoke screens or mirrors but has everything to do with quality ingredients, assured cooking and attentive service.”
Opened in February of this year, the restaurant was favourably reviewed in the Observer by Jay Rayner who described his meal as “faultless”, and was awarded 4 out of 10 in the 2008 edition of the Good Food Guide.
