Former Travelodge manager faces sentencing

A GENERAL manager stole more than £5,000 by abusing the credit card system at the hotel where she worked.

A Judge at Warwick Crown Court heard Lara McCluskey had a similar conviction five years ago, for which she ended up serving a jail sentence.

The revelation was made after the 24-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges of theft involving a total of £1,813.

The thefts took place in November and December last year while she was working at the Travelodge Hotel on the A45 at Dunchurch near Rugby.

McClusky also admitted three charges of fraud by abuse of her position as hotel manager to obtain a total of £3,332 in January and February this year.

She denied a further charge of obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception in 2005 by claiming she had no criminal conviction.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on McCluskey, who was granted bail.
