MARRIOTT has announced plans for a new luxury hotel at Aberdeen Airport.

The 180-room, £15million hotel will be situated on Argyll Road, within walking distance of the airport`s main passenger terminal.

As well as featuring standard rooms for people travelling to and from the Scottish city, the new Marriott hotel will boast a fully-equipped conference room for meetings and social functions, as well as a terraced outdoor restaurant.

The new building will be the first Courtyard hotel by Marriott in Scotland and the second in the UK, with one establishment currently under development at Gatwick Airport.

Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging at Marriott, said: "We believe this product has terrific potential in Aberdeen."

He added that the development would bring great benefits to the city and said "it will be welcomed by the greater Aberdeen area".

Aberdeen Airport is BAA Scotland`s fastest growing air transport hub, with more than three million passengers passing through every year flying to some 35 destinations.
