13th century pub scoops Dining Pub of the Year prize
READERS of Devon Life magazine have voted The Kingsbridge Inn the county’s Dining Pub of the Year. The pub, which dates back to the 13th Century, won the accolade only a year after it was taken over by new management. The Kingsbridge Inn is situated in the small town of Totnes and still retains many historic characteristics amongst its newer and more glamorous touches. The refurbished Coach House, which took just three months and cost £160,000, has been styled as a contemporary cocktail bar and restaurant, starkly complimenting the log fires and flagstones of the old inn. Mark Annear, who runs the inn with his family said: “Winning this award is the best birthday present we could have received. “We have set out to create an atmosphere here that combines the traditional and the modern, to provide something for everyone. "Our menu changes regularly and features beautifully presented, classic dishes. We use local suppliers as much as we can.”
