Positive Trading Results at The Restaurant Group

Company announces 5.5 per cent rise in like-for-like sales as management anticipates full year results to fall in line with expectations.

THE RESTAURANT Group has announced good trading for the 52 weeks to December 30 2007, prior to releasing its full year results on March 5 2008.

The company, which owns mid-market brands including Chquito, Blubeckers and Frankie & Benny’s, said like-for-like sales were up 5.5 per cent although growth in the final quarter was “more subdued” at one per cent.

TRG opened 36 new restaurants in 2007, 34 leisure brands and two concessions.

Andrew Page, TRG’s Chief Executive, said: “Although we anticipate tighter consumer conditions during 2008, we believe that the clear focus on our two distinct market segments, our robust business model and our value proposition will continue to benefit the Group."

TRG’s full year results are expected to be in line with management expectations and in the mid-range of current market forecasts.
