POSH Knightsbridge restaurant Zefferano had to deal with a customer returning a £18,000 bottle of wine, according to newspaper reports this weekend.
The magnum of P?trus was rejected after the flush diner couldn’t find the standard mark of provenance on the bottle, and declared it a possible fake.
Zefferano called in Corney & Barrow, P?trus’ agents to verify the bottles authenticity, and were reassured that the absent mark wasn’t used as standard prior to 1964.
Mr Cassini told the Daily Telegraph: "I am sure the bottle was genuine, but the wine? I just don`t know."
The thirsty customer placated his anger by ordering Zafferano`s most expensive bottle instead - a magnum of Mouton Rothschild 1945 for £20,000.
