A study reveals Britons prefer to spend Valentines night snuggled up in front of a fireplace than in an opulent restaurant.

BRITS prefer a romantic night snuggled up in front of the fireplace to a five star hotel experience, according to Visit Britain.

The national tourism marketing agency conducted a survey of how people would spend their ideal Valentine`s evening, An emphatic 49 per cent of people surveyed opted for something cosy and relaxing, soundly beating the next most popular choice of a five star hotel and breakfast in a four poster, with 25 per cent of the vote.

But for those who are dinning out for their romance, many want a dining room with a view. The Good Food Guide compiled the best views from restaurants in London and came up with these:

Le Coq D’Argent

Galvin at Windows

Inn the Park

National Portrait Gallery

Oxo Tower

Plateau

Le Pont de la Tour

Roast

Rhodes 24

Skylon
