Two fires, believed to have been started by arsonists, have caused millions of pounds worth of damage to two guest inns in Northampton.

TWO fires, reported to have been started by arsonists, have caused millions of pounds worth of damage to two guest inns in Northampton.

Fire crews were called to the first site, the Hopping Hare pub on Harlston Road, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Four fire engines were needed to get the blaze under control, it is believed to have been started on the roof and caused massive damage.

Reports have come in that another pub with restaurant and guest room facilities, in the very near vicinity of the Harlston Road site has also been badly damaged by fire, and that the two incidents are being treated as possible arson attacks.

An inquiry is under way.
