MICHAEL Caines is to open a new fine dining restaurant in Manchester in a matter of weeks, sparking hype and high hopes of bringing the city its first Michelin star in more than 20 years.
The famous chef, who has worked with Joel Robuchon and Raymond Blanc, was awarded two Michelin Stars as Head Chef at Gidleigh Park. He is set to open Michael Caines at ABode on March 17.
The chef has been involved as Operational Partner and Director of ABode for some time, in charge of all their food and beverage operations in the UK.
The new development is on the former Rossetti site in Piccadilly in the city, and has benefited from a £2million investment.
Caines is quoted in the Manchester Evening News saying: "For me, Manchester is the most important city in the country right now.
"It has a diversity, honesty and warmth that is totally unique and I`m hoping that we can add to that rich fabric of the city and its culture.
"We aim to win a Michelin star here. Manchester deserves a Michelin star. I hope that we are the ones to bring it here."
The new ABode hotel will have 61 bedrooms and a selection of luxurious penthouses.
