Gastropub operator wins permission to build an 18-bedroom hotel next to its Baraset Barns venue at Alveston, Stratford-upon-Avon.

CLASSIC Country Pub Company has won planning consent to build an 18-bedroom hotel next to its Baraset Barns venue at Alveston, Stratford-upon-Avon.

The gastropub operator - headed by Paul Salisbury and Paul Halespair - has been involved in creating and rolling out Mitchells & Butlers Project S gastropub concept, which now operates at around 50 sites.

At the end of last year, the company launched a new format called the Farm. Salisbury describes the site - an M&B franchise in Solihull - as a "posh Harvester", now taking between £45,000 and £50,000 a week.

Salisbury said: "It was one of the Allied Domecq flagships and M&B didn`t know what to do with it - we intend to do a few of them."

The venue is split into a bar called the Inn at the Farm and a 90-cover restaurant called the Food at the Farm.
