THE face of British Pie Week went head-to-head with Angela Hartnett live on ITV’s This Morning.

Mike Greer from the Duke of Cornwall in St Austell, Cornwall, won the competition to become the British Pie Week ambassador with his crafted Cornish steak pie made with St Austell’s Tinners Ale.

The chef appeared on This Morning to celebrate the initiative from Jus-Rol pastry. He went head to head in a cook off with Ramsay’s kitchen queen Angela Hartnett on the ITV show on Friday (March 7).

Mike has also enjoyed a visit from Craft Guild of Chefs member Grant Hawthorne, who helped him develop a menu for Pie Week.

Mike said: “As far as I’m concerned pies should take pole position on every good pub menu, they are the definition of good honest British food and give chefs like me the chance to get creative with traditional, local and unique seasonal ingredients.”
