Pearl Patrons Only Here for the Beer

JUN Tanaka, Executive Chef at London’s Pearl restaurant has launched a tasting menu specially designed for beer lovers.
Sommelier and self styled ‘beer gourmand’ from the restaurant, Gustavo Bertolucci, worked with Tunaka on creating the five-course £75 menu, drawing on Pearl’s ‘beer list’.
The unusual combinations include speciality beers made with champagne yeasts, dark chocolate, citrus and coriander tasting wheat beer and an ale aged in whiskey barrels.
The restaurant, which focuses on modern French cuisine, offers dishes such as; Crisp salmon in filo with pomegranate, cauliflower and walnut salad with yoghurt and mint dressing; Caramelised scallops and herb crusted frogs legs, parsley puree and garlic foam; and Spiced loin of venison with chestnuts, glazed salsify and pickled pears on the new menu.
Pearl was recently named Best London Restaurant in the Visit London awards, and Tanaka has appeared on a number of television cookery shows.
Other restaurants adopting beer into the menu include Le Gavroche and Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons.
