Budget hotel chain Travelodge has given its website a £1m makeover to enable the business to keep up with the increase in customers booking online.
The hotel chain, which is planning to open a further 44 hotels in the UK this year, receives nearly 90 per cent of bookings via its website.
New functions added by Twenty Six London and Sense Internet include Explore UK which allows customers to access details about attractions, sporting events, festivals and events in the area they are visiting and interactive Google maps to help guests plan their journey to the hotel and search for other Travelodges nearby.
The chain has improved its booking process online and says its search facility has been enhanced to enable customers to find cheaper rooms more easily, while guests can also order breakfast, dinner and WiFi online in advance of their stay via the site.
Travelodge receives more than 5 million reservations via its website each year and is visited by half a million users every week.
Guy Parsons, Travelodge Chief Operating Officer said: “Over 87 per cent of our room bookings are conducted online and this investment will help attract new consumers and offer our existing 6.5 million customers a bespoke service.”
