Big Brother is Rex-cellent
Top executive chef, Rex Newmark, entered the BB house last night

Those brave enough to tune into Channel Four last night would have seen an industry favourite enter the Big Brother house.

Rex Newmark is an executive chef and businessman and has worked at some of London’s top restaurants, including Shoreditch’s Beach Blanket Babylon, which was slated earlier in the year by the Metro`s restaurant critic with just one of five stars awarded.

The 24 year-old was born into a family of restaurateurs and still lives at home with his parents where all meals are cooked by the housekeeper. Rex insists, however, that he would be very happy to do most of the cooking in the BB house.

Rex says the proudest moment of his life so far was winning a cooking competition at his culinary training college, Westminster Kingsway, where he studied on an intensive, three-year Professional Chef Diploma course, alongside UKTV chef Sophie Wright. Both chefs were also awarded with a gold medal for the Birmingham Salon Culinaire competition in 2007.

Gary Hunter, Head of Culinary Arts told BigHospitality about Rex’s talents. "(He) was a good and friendly student, and he participated in our Culinary Arts Competition Team to a high standard.”

Describing himself as a “professional bully”, the chef and businessman lists his three favourite things in life as food, money and success.

His humour is described as “off the wall”, and after admitting that “people always tell me to stop being aggressive”, Rex may be the housemate to spice things up the BB house.
