Two previous employees of London’s Savoy hotel, have now been appointed at the Landmark London, and the Balmoral in Edinburgh

The Winter Garden restaurant at the Landmark London hotel in Marylebone, has appointed ex-Savoy employee, Richard Spears (pictured, right) as Restaurant Manager.

Having enrolled in the Savoy management training scheme straight from school, Spears’ career at the famous London hotel lasted 24 years, and saw him eventually becoming both Duty Manager of the hotel, and Assistant in the Restaurant and Lounge.

In his new position at the Landmark, Richard is now responsible for 50 staff members and maintaining the high standards of the restaurant, which currently holds two AA Rosettes and an ‘Exceptional’ rating in Harden’s London Restaurant Guide 2008.

Also a past Savoy employee, Michael Halsall has been appointed Head of Sales and Marketing at the Balmoral in Edinburgh. After working extensively in London at hotels such as the Inter-Continental, the Langham Hilton, St Martins Lane and Sanderson, Michael was attracted to Scotland by the Balmoral’s reputation, status and heritage.

He will be responsible for bedroom, special events and conference and banqueting revenue, as well as overseeing 16 members of staff. He will also be strengthening Balmoral’s relationship with the local market, as well as identifying new markets.
