The deadline for entries to this year’s Young Chef Young Waiter competition has been extended by a week.
Organisers the Restaurant Association will now accept entries until June 30.
The competition, now in its 24th year, is open to all professional chefs and waiters aged 25 or under.
Chefs will be judged on their cooking skills and butchering ability, theoretical knowledge of food and will need to create a dish from a ‘mystery basket’.
Waiters will have their knowledge and skills tested in practical service tasks and will complete an interpersonal skills interview, after attending several tutorials in wine, coffee, beer and food matching, and cheese.
Regional finals will be held from September 3-16 with the national final at Westminster Kingsway College on September 30.
