Bread bowls may boost lunchtime trade
Innovative edible bowls offer alternative to boring lunchtime sandwiches

Butt Foods’ bread bowls may be the solution for pubs looking to broaden their range of lunchtime dishes for a market with an increasingly diminishing appetite.

The bread bowls, or Breadies, are exactly what you would expect – a bowl made from sturdy, yet soft bread. They can then be filled with a thick soup, chilli, curry or stew to create a filling yet light meal.

Breadies can be purchased frozen, either complete with a Mexican chilli or chicken tikka masala filling, or empty so the most creative of chefs can add versatility and variety to their menu. Butt Foods suggest filling the bowls with all day breakfasts, hearty soups, warm salads, or sausages and beans for kids. They come in a range of styles and flavours too, including plain white, naan, and garlic bread.

Seen at this years Glastonbury festival, the Breadies have been a surprise hit due their controlled portions and range of fillings.

This product may be particularly useful to pubs implementing a more efficient and wider range of food in order to struggle through the drop in trade since the smoking ban. And since research suggests the nation’s appetites have been gradually waning over the years, Breadies may be just the thing to pick up the lunchtime trade.

Available in packs of six, Breadies are listed with most wholesalers and distributors across the UK, including 3663. For a full list and for more information, visit the Butt Foods website at
