London’s local food trade is to get a boost this October with the area’s first annual Local to London trade showcase.
The event is aimed at buyers, wholesalers and distributors alike, to encourage businesses in the city to source their food from the East and South East regions. A range of London’s finest producers and growers will be on hand to offer samplings, masterclasses and demonstrations of how to cook and serve seasonal produce, including meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.
Held at New Covent Garden Market, the event is part of a three-year project to get more local food into London, and is supported by an array of organisations, including Tastes of Anglia, London Development Agency, South East Food Group Partnership and funding from South East Development Agency.
Julie West, Executive of Tastes of Anglia, said: “Local to London taps directly into the industry and public conscience on using local, seasonal produce, offering buyers a unique opportunity to discover and access directly the best of the local regions’ producers.”
Local to London will kick off at 7am on October 1. For tour bookings, meet-the-supplier forms or conference bookings, click here.
