Gastro Taverns helps WEST brewery head East
The bar and restaurant group have introduced the Glaswegian WEST beers to their pumps

As part of their ethos to only source farm fresh food from a 40-mile radius, Gastro Taverns have struck a deal with Glasgow brewery WEST to put their speciality brand of German beer on the menu.

The rapidly expanding bar and restaurant group have six outlets spread across the East of Scotland, including newly opened The Gas Lamp in Aberdeen.

Julian Mobbs, Managing Director of Gastro Taverns, said: “Our policy is to work with speciality Scottish food and drink suppliers with exceptional quality produce. When I tasted the quality and authenticity of Helles, WEST’s signature Munich-style lager beer, I knew I had to stock it in Gastro Taverns.”

WEST’s beers are all brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot (German purity law), with only four selected imported ingredients – water, malt, hops and yeast.

Petra Wetzel, owner of WEST brewery, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that such a respected and successful operator as Gastro Taverns has chosen to put Helles into its outlets and am confident that its customers will enjoy its clean, crisp taste.”

WEST’s beer will now be available in The Sun and Mamma’s Italian Kitchen in Cupar, and The Flaming Kilt in Kirkcaldy.
