Saturday Kitchen presenter and chef James Martin has been picked to host this year`s AA Awards.
The black tie event at London`s Grosvenor Hotel will honour hotels, restaurants and individuals with a number of awards, including Hotel Group of the Year, Restaurant of the Year and Chef`s Chef of the Year.
While Martin hands out awards, five chefs with five AA rosettes – Marcus Wareing, Raymond Blanc, David Nicholls, Chris Staines and Tom Aikens – will work in the kitchen alongside the hotel`s staff to prepare the food for a thousand guests.
AA Hotel Services Manager Simon Numphud said: “As it’s AA Hotel Services’ centenary year, we wanted to do something very special this year, which is why we have chosen James Martin as our ‘celebrity’ presenter and have asked five acclaimed chefs to prepare the celebratory dinner. Our Awards have gone from strength to strength and this year will be better than ever.”
The AA, which will use the awards to unveil new look 2009 AA guides, introduced the concept of star ratings and hotel inspections back in 1912 and introduced AA Rosettes to recognise good food in 1955. The first AA Lifestyle Guides was published in 1967.
The awards ceremony will take place on September 2. For more information visit www.aahospitalityawards.com
