This year, 84 per cent of brides and grooms will be choosing to spend their last days of being single in the UK with London proving the most popular destination.
And hoteliers, restaurateurs and bar owners are set to reap the benefits with hens and stags preparing to spend the majority of their cash on accommodation, food and drink.
The poll of 4,000 adults found that men spend an average of £370 each on stag events with accommodation and travel taking up a large proportion of the cost. The average food and drink bill is £85.
For women, the average cost is £323 with more than a third going towards accommodation and travel. They spend an average of £68 on food and drink.
Travelodge’s Research Director Mark Kemp said: “Our research has revealed couples are ‘coming back home’ to celebrate their last days of being single, before tying the knot.”
“We generally have a steady stream of hen and stag bookings each year but this year we have seen a dramatic rise in our group bookings are for a pre-wedding celebration.”
The top 10 hen and stag locations are: London, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol, Liverpool and Bath.
