Scottish hospitality show ScotHot will next March include three new, high-profile competitions, as well as playing host to the 27th Scottish Culinary Championships at the Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow.
Scottish Pub Chef of the Year, Scottish Contract Catering Chef of the Year and Scottish Banqueting Challenge will join the list of more than 50 culinary competitions being staged at the annual three-day event in March 2009.
Potential Pub Chefs of the Year are invited to submit their ideas for a two-course menu to judges before battling it out in ScotHot’s live competition theatre to win the title.
The Scottish Banqueting Challenge will challenge six teams of ten (five front of house, five kitchen staff), to serve 60 paying diners a seasonal Scottish three-course menu.
Neil Thomson, Chief Executive for the Federation of chefs in Scotland, said: “The 2009 schedule of contests looks to be the best yet, we are expecting hundreds of high calibre entrants from across the industry. We are proud of the Scottish Culinary Championships and how it is still regarded as one of the best ways for ambitious young chefs to make their mark in this industry.”
