Scottish castle hotel sold for £3m
Auchen Castle Hotel - the venue where model Michelle Marsh recently wed Oldham Athletic footballer Will Haining - has been sold to PAG Hotels

Auchen Castle, the Victorian castle hotel on the Scottish Borders, has been sold to PAG Hotels for £3m.

The 4 star hotel, run by Ann Skinner-Ter Smitte and her silent partner, Cory Ter Smitte for the past seven years was bought by the hotel group through Christie & Co.

PAG will run the 25-bedroom hotel, cocktail bar, restaurant and conference facilities along with its other hotels, including Castle Venlaw in Peebles, also on the Scottish Borders.

Auchen has traded as a hotel for the past 55 years and has welcomed a number of famous guests through its doors during that time, including the Beatles, Barbara Cartland and the King of Norway.

More recently it provided the setting for the wedding of Oldham Athletic footballer Will Haining and model Michelle Marsh, featured in OK! magazine.
