Opal Lounge gets two-week £200k decadent revamp
The Edinburgh nightclub and celebrity hangout is due to reopen this week following a very speedy refurbishment

One of Edinburgh’s top celebrity hangouts, the Opal Lounge, has undergone a £200k refurbishment in just two weeks, and is due to reopen this Thursday.

Opal Lounge operator Montpelier Ltd have revamped the exclusive VIP venue in a decadent black and gold theme to compete on the same level as some of London’s top end clubs.

As well as decorating the walls with bauble glass gold sheets and a glowing cubed wall mosaic feature, the Opal Lounge will introduce Scotland’s first Table Service where guests can enjoy champagne and spirits at their table for a minimum spend of £125.

David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers (Edinburgh), said: “Opal Lounge is a decadent venue and the sumptuous surroundings reflect the attitude the place has somewhere a bit naughty to go late on a night out.

“It was time to inject some exclusivity back into the place and make it reflect the very height of luxury today and make that accessible to Edinburgh’s party set. We want it to be quite sultry, but mischievous at the same time. By interspersing absolute darkness with flashes of gold light I think we have really captured the essence of opulent mystery we wanted to create.”

The Opal Lounge is a favourite of big name celebrities such as Kate Moss, Prince William, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Spacey, and will reopen this Thursday September 11.
