Ministry of Food chef Jamie Oliver has announced plans to ‘pass it on’ to the Middle East, after signing a deal with Leisurecorp to launch a range of restaurants, kitchens and a ‘library’ for Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The deal will see Oliver open his first two restaurants in Dubai, a classic Italian restaurant showcasing the food he is famous for, and a new BBQ restaurant concept that will feature live cooking.
Oliver will also be designing a range of home kitchens for the planned Water neighbourhood of the Jumeirah Golf Estates, working with luxury brand Poggenpol to create his perfect kitchen space, while a new grab and go retail range will give residents the opportunity to cook Oliver’s food at home.
“I’m very excited to be working with a company like Leisurecorp who share my passion and principles of healthy living,” he said. “Jumeirah Golf Estates is an amazing place and the Water neighbourhood is the perfect spot to open my first restaurants in the Middle East. My Italian restaurant will feature fantastic rustic dishes, using recipes I’ve tried, tested and loved, while the BBQ restaurant will feature live cooking and simple but tasty classics.”
In addition, Oliver will be creating the first ever ‘Kitchen Library’ in the Middle East, a lending space for chefs to source all their culinary equipment and cookbooks.
Water is the third of four neighbourhoods at Jumeirah Golf Estates, following the launch of Fire and Earth. Oliver’s kitchens will now appear in every villa, town house and apartment built on the site.
