Foodservice provider Brakes has taken a majority share in a joint venture with Northern Ireland foodservice O’Kane, expanding the products available to operators in NI.
Having worked together in a close partnership for over 10 years, the deal now means that food outlets in Northern Ireland can benefit from the wide range of suppliers Brakes currently works with, including M&J Seafood, Pauleys, Prime Meats, Country Choice, and Woodward Foodservice.
O’Kane will continue to be headed by Bill Lattimore and his team in Lisburn, NI, who have recently set up local distribution sites in Galway, Cork and Dublin.
Frank McKay, Brakes Group Chief Executive Officer, said: "I am delighted we have been given the opportunity to join forces with O`Kane Foodservice and welcome both their employees and customers to the family of Brakes companies. We are committed to on-going investment in O`Kane Foodservice to ensure many more new Irish business opportunities are secured".
The partnership has already enabled O’Kane to create new jobs in the communities it serves, and invest in its own existing and new infrastructure.
