Liverpool’s Upstairs at the Bluecoat will re-open next month following work to repair the fire-damaged building.
The 80-cover restaurant bar on the first floor of the Bluecoat, Liverpool city centre’s oldest building and now arts centre, has been closed since May when fire swept through the kitchen, restaurant and office areas.
Tate Catering was awarded a three-year contract to supply catering at the venue in 2006. Since its closure the company’s Executive Chef Sean Davies has been working with Bluecoat’s Head Chef Matthew Burns to come up with a new menu and Tate’s Head Sommelier Hamish Anderson has built a new wine list.
Robin Bidgood, Chief Executive of Tate Catering said: ‘We are delighted to be re-opening Upstairs at the Bluecoat. We were saddened by the fire and the devastation that it caused. While we have been closed our team has been working with new suppliers to build our seasonal menus. We look forward to welcoming people back into the Restaurant and showing them new menus that offer great quality and value for money.”
The Bluecoat is a centre for contemporary art, literature, music, dance and live art and was given a £12.5m revamp in March.
To celebrate the re-opening of Upstairs at the Bluecoat on November 8, the venue has also commissioned a series of artists to create artwork for its tables.
