Chef Russell Clement and his partner Michele English have been given the chance to work with Raymond Blanc after winning the second series of the BBC Two show The Restaurant.
The couple will spend time training at Brasserie Blanc in Bristol before launching their own restaurant in partnership with Blanc next year.
“When we applied for The Restaurant, we dreamed of winning and now that dream has come true we are so excited about the future and still can`t believe we are really going into business with Raymond Blanc,” said English.
Over the past eight weeks, nine couples have battled it out for the chance to go into business with Blanc.
He chose the winning couple, who previously ran a buffet business in Essex, because they showed they could run their restaurant – The Cheerful Soul – as a strong team.
“They had the best and most consistent skills as a chef and front-of-house partnership and their restaurant regularly made a profit,” Blanc added.
Despite failing to win the chance to go into business with Blanc, fellow finalists Alasdair Hooper and James Knight-Pachecho were offered three months’ training at Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons to help realise their dream of running their own restaurant.
