Lindsay House closes; Corrigan’s Mayfair opens
Richard Corrigan has announced he is to close his Soho restaurant Lindsay House, on the day his eponymous restaurant at Grosvenor House opens.
After 25 years service, the Michelin-starred restaurant will be closing its doors after the decision was made not to renew the property’s lease, which expires in May. Corrigan, who also owns Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill in both London and Dublin, said he is ‘sad to see it close’, but will now concentrate on the opening of his latest restaurant, Corrigan’s Mayfair.
A spokesperson for Corrigan said: “The lease is coming to an end and so obviously they won’t be staying in the building anymore. There’s nothing they can do about it really. They are looking at winding it down in May next year, but Corrigan’s Mayfair is opening today and that will be the flagship restaurant.”
Situated on the original site of Chez Nico on Park Lane, Corrigan’s Mayfair will offer relaxed yet stylish dining in an environment inspired by hunting lodges and game. Using feather-laden table lamps and a frieze carving of abstract game figures, the restaurant’s dTcor will reflect the hearty British with an Irish influence menu that, unsurprisingly, has a heavy emphasis on game.
Game broth and livers on toast; Grouse pie and ceps; and Daube of pork with turnips and apricot are some of the dishes Head Chef Chris McGowan (who was previously at Lindsay House) will be cooking in the considerably larger kitchen.
Corrigan’s team is completed by the appointment of Jacques Dejardin from Gaucho Grill as Restaurant Manager, and Andrea Briccarello from Umu and Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill as Sommelier.
