Michael Caines joins Bath Priory after Chris Horridge departure

Michael Caines has announced he will be joining the Bath Priory as executive head chef when Chris Horridge leaves his position at the end of January.
Caines has held the kitchen reins at Gidleigh Park in Devon since 1994, and has retained two Michelin stars at the restaurant for almost 10 years. As chef director of ABode Hotels, his appointment by owners Andrew and Christina Brownsword to look after the menus of sister hotel Bath Priory, is a move Caines sees as a great honour.
He said: ”It is my intention to bring more synergy between Gidleigh Park and The Bath Priory, while retaining their unique appeal and offer. We will shortly be announcing who the head chef is going to be to build on and take forward the wonderful reputation that The Bath Priory has earned to date.
"I would like to wish Chris Horridge all the best in his new appointment and I am sure that he has a wonderful future ahead of him."
Current Bath Priory head chef Horridge will leave his position of three years to join von Essen’s Cliveden House Hotel restaurant, Waldos at the end of January next year. Caines will take over the kitchen upon his departure, although the Bath Priory is due to close for refurbishment for six weeks come February.
