Chez Bruce named top drinking out venue
The restaurant founded by Bruce Poole and Nigel Platts-Martin has been voted the Overall Establishment of the Year at the Drinking Out Excellence Awards

Chez Bruce has been named the Overall Establishment of the Year at the Drinking Out Excellence Awards, with several other leading London restaurants picking up prestigious gongs as well.

Due to its ‘superb list’ and ‘knowledgeable service’, Chez Bruce​ in Wandsworth, the French bistro set up in 1995 by Bruce Poole and Nigel Platts-Martin, was also named European Wine Restaurant of the Year at the awards held at London’s St. Martin’s Lane this week.

Chris Galvin’s Galvin Bistrot de Luxe​ meanwhile walked away with the accolade for French Wine Restaurant of the Year, while Enoteca Turi​ in Putney scooped the award for Italian Wine Restaurant.

Other big winners at the awards held in conjunction with Harpers​ Wine & Spirit Trade Review, the UK’s largest drinks trade title, included Alan Yau’s Hakkasan​ for Best Drinks List in an Asian restaurant, Champagne Bar St. Pancras​ for Champagne Bar of the Year, and The Gaucho Grill​, for New World Wine Restaurant of the Year.

Spirits Venue of the Year – Mahiki
After Dinner Drinks Restaurant of the Year – Boisdale
Wine Personality of the Year – Matt Wilkin
Spirits Personality of the year – Dave Broom
