The Farringdon branch of South African restaurant Vivat Bacchus has appointed a new restaurant manager and head sommelier, who will implement 16 years of food and wine experience to the restaurant’s front of house.
Calvin O’Keeffe has previous experience of working on some of London’s top restaurants, including six years spent with the Conran group as head sommelier at Coq D’Argent, and deputy restaurant manager at Bluebird in Chelsea.
O’Keeffe also opened and ran a gastro-pub in Hampshire, which was awarded three AA rosettes within six months of its launch.
Gerrie Knoetze, co-owner of Vivat Bacchus, said: “Calvin’s experience and reputation speaks for itself. He has formidable wine expertise, which sits at the heart of our business at Vivat Bacchus. We look forward to launching with him some of the most ambitious wine and dining projects that the City has ever seen.”
Joining The Roof Gardens, a restaurant, events and garden space in London and part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition, is new general manager Jason Goddard, who brings with him experience running hotels worldwide.

Goddard has worked previously as food and beverage manager at Quay West Hotel in Auckland, NZ, general manager at Ashfield Hotel in Sydney, and food and beverage director at Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
