Pontins invests in £50m redevelopment
Pontins have invested £50m in a redevelopment of its sites, creating over 2,000 new jobs

Staple British holiday park Pontins is making the most of the holiday-at-home trend, announcing a £50m investment to refurbish its centres around the UK.

Pontin’s owner Ocean Parcs will invest the money into completely redeveloping the sites at Brean Sands and Prestatyn Sands, rebuilding and designing the centres at Camber Sands and Southport, and double the size and capacity of Pakefield Holiday Centre.

Over 2,000 jobs will be created by the redevelopments, which will initially begin with an overhaul of the existing catering and bar facilities in all centres to coincide with a new entertainment programme.

Ian Smith, chief executive of Ocean Parcs and Pontins, said: “We are tremendously excited about the investment planned for the development of our Pontin’s Holiday Centres and the employment and tourism revenue that will be generated by this substantial investment. It is particularly pleasing to note that due to a significant increase in bookings for this year, a number of our Holiday Centres are already showing only limited availability for the key half term, Easter and Summer holiday periods.”

Ocean Parcs took over the Pontins brand in March of last year, and reported a 10 per cent increase on year on year bookings last summer after British families opted to holiday at home rather than deal with rising airline surcharges and the strong Euro.
