Restaurants, hotels and pubs tell us about the promotions and special offers theyre running

BigHospitality rounds up the offers, promotions and other special events running this week at restaurants and hotels around the country.

Guilt-free pudding

The Real Greek has introduced a “guilt-free pudding”. Customers order the £1.95 dessert from the menu knowing that (instead of receiving an actual dessert) they will be making a donation to Action Against Hunger. Jean-Michel Grand, of Action Against Hunger, said the initiative would help malnourished children in countries like Liberia, and Nepal.

Calorie counting

Hiroyuki Saotome, head chef at Saki Bar and Food Emporium in Smithfield, London, has launched low calorie menus to showcase his uber-healthy Japanese food. Each menu is less than 300kcal and miracle fruit, a small African berry, is the star ingredient. Three and four
course menus are available priced at £24.50 and £30.50.

Cheese choice

Six different types of oysters and a staggering 50 cheeses will be available at the Sundial in Herstmonceux, East Sussex on March 6. Chef patron Vincent Rongier has personally selected all the produce, which will be available for customers to buy and take home. Also on offer is an assortment of salads, smoked fish, dry meats and Raclette.

Family brunch

Saturday Brunch at the Cookbook Cafe at London`s Inter Continental Hotel is now open to kids. Traditionally an adult affair, with unlimited Champagne and bellinis, the event now includes kids’ cookery lessons. Sessions will focus on making fun food such as upside-down carrot cake, gingerbread men and marbled magic balls. £39 per adult and £14 per child.

Go bananas

The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London is `going bananas` for Fairtrade Fortnight. Free Fairtrade bananas will be handed to guests on arrival on March 6 in support of the Go Bananas Campaign which aims to break the record for the largest number of Fairtrade bananas eaten in 24 hours.  The hotel will also serve a Fairtrade Banana afternoon tea on March 6 and 7. For £15.50 guests will be given a selection of banana finger sandwiches (banana & peanut butter banana & honey-roast ham and banana & Nutella spread among others) and a selection of Fairtrade banana fancies to chomp their way through while gazing out over Hyde Park.
