Galvin at Windows to host global oyster and Champagne tasting
The Park Lane restaurant will stream an oyster and Champagne tasting live online tomorrow

Galvin at Windows will invite the world to join its oyster and Champagne tasting session tomorrow when it streams it live online.

Food, drink and lifestyle bloggers have been invited to the event at the Park Lane restaurant and will share their experiences with anyone who logs on to worldtv.com at 4pm tomorrow.

Restaurant manager and technophile Fred Sirieix came up with the idea after meeting a man who runs an online TV channel at a Twestival - an evening bringing together people who use social networking and micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Sirieix regularly writes updates about the restaurant on Twitter and has over 1,000 followers, many of whom have become regulars at the restaurant.

He told BigHospitality: "We are trying to do something interactive and fun for people to watch. I`m really interested in following new technology. I find Twitter really addictive and it`s a good way to get to know people.

"We have had a few bookings as a result of Twitter and some online reviews. I don`t think Twitter is a quick fix. It`s about communicating and engaging with people. You find you already have a relationship with a customer using Twitter before they come to the restaurant and it gives that personal touch which people like."

Sirieix will also be sending out updates on the tasting via Twitter making it a fully interactive event.

Guests will be given several varieties of oysters such as Fine de Claires, Helford Native, Duchy of Cornwall to match with a range of Champagnes - from Laurent Perrier to Galvin at Window`s house Champagne.

Hosted by Radio 2 presenter Nigel Barden it will be attended by Chris Galvin, Bruno Murciano of Bibendum, Robin Hancock of Wright Brothers and BigHospitality blogger Andy Lynes among others.
