Online discounter MyVoucherCodes.co.uk has seen demand for printable discount vouchers for restaurants rise almost 200 per cent in the last month.
The website, which features discount vouchers for a number of restaurant chains, including Ask, Prezzo and Nando`s, reported a 192 per cent rise in the number of people coming to the site for deals on the previous month.
Mark Pearson managing director of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk attributed much of the rise to web-savvy teenagers and adults looking for deals in the run up to Mother`s Day on March 22.
He said: “The searches for Mother’s Day have started even earlier this year compared to last, with people looking for affordable ways to treat their deserving mums, taking advantage of many well-known restaurants’ attempts to attract customers through printable discounts."
Printable coupons and online voucher codes have been in huge demand during the credit crunch. MyVoucherCodes.co.uk said it received 8 million unique visits in December last year as consumers looked to make savings where they could.
Martin Lewis, the man behind moneysavingexpert.com, told Restaurant magazine last month that the discount culture was here to stay.
“Saying otherwise would be like saying that there won’t be any more sales once the economy gets better" he said. "Vouchers give companies the ability to discreetly discount to the growing group of price sensitive customer, whilst not cannibalising walk in trade.”
