FSA signs up coffee and sandwich chains to healthy food commitment
Seven of the UK’s largest coffee and sandwich shop chains have signed up to the FSA’s healthier eating commitment

Seven major coffee and sandwich shop chains are the latest catering companies to sign up to the FSA’s healthier eating commitment.

BB`s Coffee and Muffins, Caffe Nero, Costa, EAT, Greggs, Pret A Manger and Starbucks Coffee Company UK join around 30 of the biggest companies in the catering sector that are working with the FSA to improve the health of the nation.

Through pledges to reduce the salt, sugar and saturated fat content of their food, and to start offering smaller portions plus more fresh fruit and salads, the FSA hopes the companies can convince their customers to make healthier choices when they eat out of home.

Tim Smith, chief Executive of the FSA, said: `We now eat one in every six meals out of our homes; that is why we particularly welcome these commitments making it easier to choose healthier options when eating out, no matter where that is.”
