Hammond, who joined the von Essen hotel collection in 2002, replaces Matthew Lord to head up a team of chefs at the 18th Century manor house hotel in Somerset.
James Parkinson von Essen`s executive chef said: "David is an impeccable chef with a great philosophy on food and the use of local produce. After doing a fantastic job at Ston Easton Park, I am sure that he will take the reins at Hunstrete House and make it a great success."
Hammond worked as chef de partie and junior sous chef at Ston Easton Park before moving to The Elms in Worcester for two years. He returned to Ston Easton Park in 2006 to work as sous chef under Michael Parke.
