Travelodge creates iPhone application
Travelodge becomes the first UK hotel group to create a free GPS room booking service for owners of Apples iPhone

Travelodge has created an application for Apple`s iPhone that allows users to locate their nearest hotel and book a room there.

The Travelodge iBooker is the first free GPS room booking service to be launched by a UK hotel brand and can be downloaded onto an iPhone via the iTunes Application Store.

Those with the application can find out the details for the nearest five Travelodge hotels to them together with images, availability, distance and room rates just by tapping the Travelodge logo. They are then given the option to book a room via their phone.

Rooms can also be booked via the iBooker without having to use the GPS service.

Guy Parsons, Travelodge UK managing director, said: “With the launch of iBooker, Travelodge continues to pioneer the leisure industry by making its hotels even more accessible to everyone via low cost, location and ease of booking. We are delighted to be the UK’s first hotel brand to launch a free GPS based iPhone application. With the Travelodge iBooker service, wherever you are, you can always find a low cost bed for the night”.

There are currently more than one million Apple iPhone owners in the UK and 10m across the world. The number is predicted to rise to 45m by the end of 2009.
