Restaurant leaders to discuss industry's future
Executives from Clapham House Group, Wagamama and Jamies Italian are among those coming together to discuss the future of the industry at Allegra Strategies summit this summer

David Page of Clapham House Group, Jamie`s Italian managing director Simon Blagden and chef Theo Randall are among those who will come together at a special summit in June to talk about the future of the restaurant industry.

The UK Restaurant Leader Summit on June 9, organised by Allegra Strategies, will examine the short and long-term impact of the recession on the restaurant sector through a panel debate with key members of the industry.

Allegra Strategies will also unveil the findings of its UK Restaurant Leader Research Report, which examines the views of industry leaders on current business challenges, future forecasts and consumer trends affecting the restaurant sector.

Steve Gotham, senior analyst at Allegra Strategies, said : "The economic slowdown is leading to a shake-out in the restaurant sector, in which only the most skilfully managed, better funded and more customer-centric operators will survive. However, economic influences are cyclical and the favourable long-term trends towards greater eating out activity will drive renewed market growth. There will be a recessionary legacy related to customer value expectations, but issues around customer experience, convenience, healthier eating, provenance and sustainability will inevitably work their way back up the agendas of both consumers and management.’

Other confirmed speakers and panelists for the summit and networking event, are Mark Phillips, chief executive of Paramount Holdings, Luke Johnson of Risk Capital Partners, Tom Peck, head of consumer insight at McDonald`s UK, Ian Neill, chairman of Wagamama, Jamie Barber, managing director of Steam Roller Restaurants, Hush and Villandry, Bob Silk, hospitality relationship director at Barclay`s Commercial and Allegra Strategies managing director Jeffrey Young.

The summit will take place at Millennium Mayfair Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London on June 9. Tickets are £430 VAT, or £385 VAT if you pay before April 23.
