Vindaloo bangers

Cafe Spice Namaste is reinventing some of Britain’s best comfort foods by giving them an Indian twist this month. Head chef Cyrus Todiwala`s Twisted Brit menu features Masala Fried Fish & Chips, Vindaloo Bangers & Mash and Bombay Fish Pie. The menu will be served for lunch and early dinner throughout April and costs £5.25 for starters, £14.50 for maincourses and £16.95 for both.

Credit crunch kids

Edinburgh’s Italian restaurants Vittoria and La Favorita are selling children’s meals for £1 to ease the financial burden on parents who still want to treat their kids to meals out and help raise money for charity. Any child under 12 can eat from the children’s menu for £1 as long as they are accompanied by an adult ordering from the a la carte menu. The restaurants will then donate the £1 to the Forth One and Forth2 Cash for Kids appeal, which helps children with special needs.

Rose galore

Diners at Franco’s bar cafe and restaurant will have a whopping 50 different rose wines to choose from next month. The Italian restaurant in London is extending its wine list to include rose wines from 11 different countries. To celebrate the start of its new list, anyone ordering a bottle of wine or Champagne at Franco`s after 3pm this summer will be given a free antipasto platter to enjoy with it.

Sparkling stay

St James`s Hotel & Club has teamed up with Hatton Garden-based jewellery designer Patrick Wyatt to offer guests a sparkling package. Guests who buy a bespoke Patrick Wyatt piece for £2k or more this year will receive a complimentary overnight stay at the 60-bedroom town house hotel together with a three course meal at Andaman and Champagne, flowers, chocolates and fruit in the room. And the piece of jewellery will be delivered to the room by Wyatt himself.
