50 Best meals to be auctioned for charity
Winners of Mondays S. Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurant Awards put meals at their restaurants up for auction on ebay to raise money for Action Against Hunger

Winning restaurants in this year`s S. Pellegrino World`s 50 Best list have pledged their support for charity Action Against Hunger by donating meals and experiences to be sold on ebay.

Food lovers will be able to bid for meals at some of the greatest restaurants in the world by bidding for them on the auction website. All proceeds from the sale will go to the charity, which helps save the lives of malnourished children.

Lots for sale so far on the site include meals for two at Hakkasan, Nobu and St John in London and a 12-course tasting menu with matching wines at Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark - the restaurant which rose to third place in this year`s list.

A second wave of lots will be put up for sale on May 4 and include the chance to tour the kitchens of Mugaritz in San Sebastian with head chef, Andoni Aduriz and to dine at some of the list`s US restaurants.

Jean-Michel Grand, Action Against Hunger’s executive director, said: “We are absolutely delighted, and immensely grateful, that so many of The S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2009 winners have pledged their support by donating such wonderful ‘once in a lifetime’ meals and experiences, that will undoubtedly make for an exciting auction to help raise much needed funds for Action Against Hunger.”

Raymond Blanc, who spoke about the charity at the 50 Best awards ceremony on Monday night, added: “I congratulate all restaurants and chefs who have risen to the challenge in this special charity auction helping the charity and its vital work.”
