Travellers vote London’s cuisine worst in Europe
Travellers have baffled the British restaurant industry by voting London’s cuisine as the worst in Europe

London’s cuisine has been voted the worst in Europe despite being home to some of the world’s best chefs.

In a TripAdvisor survey of 2,400 travellers’ perceptions of European cities, 10 per cent voted London as serving the worst cuisine, with Moscow and Warsaw following a close second and third.

The results have baffled the restaurant industry, which has seen the capital’s food offering improve vastly over the past few years. A spokesperson for the British Hospitality Association, said: “London is generally acknowledged to be one of the eating-out capitals of the world. Standards have never been higher.”

Marcus Wareing, whose eponymous restaurant at the Berkeley was recently voted the 52nd best in the world, told the Evening Standard: “It`s a bit of a surprise to hear these results. You have to really question where these people are eating."

However, London was also voted as having the best nightlife, and bizarrely the second best cuisine in Europe, after Paris (18 per cent) with 17 per cent of the votes.
