Locale Restaurants expands with Ferrari's sites

Italian restaurant group Locale Restaurants will open its fifth site in Balham later this month following a £100k refurbishment and re-brand.
The company, owned and operated by Mark Evans, Mark Elphicke and Douglas Smillie, added two new sites to its portfolio in December 2008 when it bought the Ferrari`s Italian restaurants in Balham and Bromley.
Ferrari`s Balham will close on May 18 for refurbishment and will re-open four days later as Locale Balham.
“Ferrari’s Balham is a much-loved part of the community”, said Locale operations director Mark Evans (pictured left). “We will continue to offer customers everything that they enjoy about Ferrari’s while introducing elements of the Locale menu and service values that have proved so successful in our other locations.”
Enzo Begu, general manager at Locale in Waterloo (pictured right), will move to the Balham branch and the group`s executive chef Gianpaolo Barone (centre) will oversee the kitchen.
Locale Restaurants also operates restaurants in Fulham, Waterloo, Blackheath and East Dulwich. A spokesman said the group had no plans to re-brand the†Ferrari`s restaurant in Bromley as a Locale.†
