BigHospitality wine writer Susy Atkins is hoping to boost wine sales at restaurants and hotels in the South West by working with them through her new wine events company.
Atkins (pictured, right) and her business partner, ex-Somerfield wine buyer Angela Mount, who both live in the region, plan to work with businesses there through their new company Susy Atkins and Angela Mount Wine Events by holding bespoke wine tastings and other wine-related events.
"In the current economic climate, it’s more important than ever to offer that point of difference to the on-trade," said Mount. "We will work with them, developing their wine sales and providing fun, educational and informative events for their customers."
The pair will work with wine merchants in the area, running from Cornwall to Hampshire and Gloucestershire, to source wines and will organise a host of events including tailored wine and food matching events, corporate tasting events and girls’ only evenings.
Atkins added: "We know there are a lot of wine consumers, both living in, and travelling to this region who would love to find out more about wine in a relaxed environment. We can work with local wine merchants, hotels and restaurants to create lively wine evenings to inspire their customers."
Atkins writes the Sauce column for the Sunday Telegraph and regularly appears on BBC One`s Saturday Kitchen. Both women regularly host wine and food sessions at Taste, Good Food Show, Ideal Home Show and most key exhibitions.
