Boath House chef named Scottish chef of the Year
Charles Lockley of Boath House in Auldearn near Inverness has been named the 2009 Scottish Chef of the Year at the Scottish Chef Awards ceremony at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow.
After picking up the Hotel Chef of the Year award in 2007, Lockley beat silver and bronze award winners Colin Craig and Lesley Crosfield at The Albannach in Lochinver, and Bruce Sangster of Sangsters in Elie, to finally secure the accolade.
Brian Hannan, organiser of The Cookery School in Glasgow who sponsored the awards, said Lockley’s skills demonstrated Scotland’s capacity for ‘top quality cooking.’
“I’ve watched Charles grow as a chef over the years,” he said, “He is humble about his talent, always saying he lets the ingredients do the talking, but this is cooking that shouts from the rooftops.”
