Compass names three Centres for Excellence
The contract caterer announces plans to make restaurants at three of its major business clients beacons for the rest of the company

Contract caterer Compass has made catering facilities at three of its business clients` sites `Centres for Excellence` to help improve its services and encourage workers to remain on site to eat.

As part of the initiative, the restaurants - at Procter & Gamble in Newcastle, Vodafone head office in Newbury and Simons Construction in Lincoln - will showcase bespoke food offerings designed to be healthy, fresh, and cost effective.

Graham Sims, managing director of Compass`s Eurest Services, said: “Centres for Excellence demonstrate what all caterers should strive for, particularly in times of recession when employees are looking for healthy meals on a budget. Good workplace catering will mean that employees will not have to and will not want to go elsewhere.”

The Centre for Excellence programme will focus on improving food quality and presentation, controlling food costs, using concepts and promotions and driving purchasing compliance.

At P&G (pictured), Compass has already introduced new elements to its breakfast and lunch services, including a daily live chef’s theatre and food sampling.

Joy Dinsdale, site services leader, UK North, P&G UK and Ireland, said: “Employee feedback relating to dining room standards, healthy food offerings and general service has been consistently positive since this effort began some. We all know how hard it is to please employees in the dining room; this is the result of much hard work by the team.”
