Mark Poynton joins Alimentum restaurant in Cambridge as head chef and Penny Thornberry joins the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast as director of sales and marketing

Chef Mark Poynton has joined Cambridgeshire fine dining restaurant Alimentum​ as head chef following seven years working at Midsummer House with Great British Menu contestant Daniel Clifford.

Poynton, who spent the last two years as head chef at Midsummer House, will work alongside sous chef Daniel Phippard and restaurant manager Matthew Hough in his new role.

The chef, recruited by restaurateur John Hudgell, will continue to use locally sourced produce to create dishes that are `brimming with quality and originality`.

The Fitzwilliam Hotel​ in Belfast has also appointed Penny Thornberry director of sales and marketing.

Thornberry, who has experience with Hilton, Stormont and Europa Hotels and more recently completed the opening of the Lough Erne Golf Resort in Fermanagh, will oversee all elements of marketing at the city`s new boutique hotel, which is managed by Hotel Partners.
